Welcome to the Desmarais House Building Blog! We are in the process of building a 3000 square foot, post- and beam-style house on our 9 acre property in central Florida. When I say building our house, I mean we are building it (hammers, nail, etc.), it is not "being built" by a contractor, as most people imply when they say they are "building a house." Tune into this blog and on a weekly basis (I plan to post 2 to 3 times a week) and you can see our progress, our frustrations, our unforeseen blunders, and our victories. I will be posting some technical info. (board size, nail length, code info, etc.).

A note about the dating of entries - I will be post dating entries back to when we first received our plans from the engineer (April, 2007). I am starting this blog in December, 2007. So if you want to read recent stuff jump to December.
